Instructions for Platform Lift Storage Mechanism
The Selby Type “ST” lift mechanism is intended to be mounted in an existing bed frame or box pedestal. A plan for a box pedestal can be found below
To mount the mechanism frame with concealed mounting fasteners, attach the frame to a 5” wide X ¾ hardwood lumber cleat that is the same length as the two pedestal walls that receive the mechanism. This length will usually be the same as the sides except when a side opening is required. For side opening platforms the mechanism frames are mounted inside on the head and foot of the bed frame or pedestal.

Place the mechanism on the 5” wide cleat with the top angle flush with the edge of the cleat and not closer than 1/8” from either end of the cleat.

3.Mark the position of the four holes in the bottom bar of the mechanism on the cleat.

Assemble the right and left mechanism to the right and left cleat and tighten the mounting screws6.Position the cleats against the inside of the pedestal or bed frame so that the top edge of the cleat and the side wall are flush. Glue and screw into place. No fasteners should be visible on the outside of the b pedestal or bed frame.

( a couple of small ‘C’ claps may be helpful here. Fasten the top to the mechanisms and perform an open and close cycle to insure that there is no interference.
